RESULTS OF THE MARCH 17TH ELVIS AUCTION

On March 17 of this year an online auction of Elvis belongings came up for sale. Promoter, Peter Siegel set a minimum bid of $100,000.00 on “The King’s powder blue jumpsuit and matching cape w/gold lining. His iconic Madison Square Garden jumpsuit with an estimated value of $150,000.00 to $200,000.00 sold for the ginormous sum of $212,588.40. A black pants and casual shirt estimated at $9,000.00 to $10,000.00 sold for $33,152.40. A silver and turquoise concert belt estimated at $10,000.00 to $12,000.00 went for $24,906.00. More than 500 lots were posted for the auction.

The “owned by Elvis” market has experienced a steady rise over the years, while other investments have declined. Ten years ago, you could purchase one of his jumpsuits for about $60,000.00. Today they go for $200,000.00 to $300,000.00 and many other items have tripled in price. It would appear that even in this financial crisis…ELVIS IS RECESSION PROOF!!

I’ll be posting many items from my collection of personally owned Elvis articles in a future blog…STAY TUNED!!
