EDDIE O’ROURKE’s ELVIS SUMMER FESTIVAL – JULY 2010

100_0098My career in music has taken me across the USA, Mexico and Canada. And while I’ve performed as an Elvis Tribute Artist in cities like New York, Philadelphia, Nashville, Memphis and Las Vegas, my home base has always been New Jersey. The majority of my Elvis Tribute Shows take place in my home state, Philly and New York. My Elvis Summer Festival is one of those regular Jersey gigs. It runs June through September and has been a feature of The Bayonne Town Center Classic Car Shows for the past ten years.

The July edition of the festival attracted a record crowd in spite of the heatwave that gripped the area for more than a month. Vintage cars lined two blocks and provided the backdrop for, one of Elvis’ favorite pastimes, slot car racing.  Guests danced to the music of DJ Express and the group also served as backup for my concert. From the opening chords of the Elvis classic That’s Alright Mama, the show packed a lot of energy and the audience reacted enthusiastically.

Real nice web site. I am just staring to do Tributes 2-3 years now. Getting busier. Questions… I was doing mostly charity…no charge it was for fun. Now it seems like a buisness. I do one hour with Cd sound tracks. How much could I charge for this type of show. I am getting 350-500. Any suggestions. Tribute Artist in progress.

Random Elvis Trivia
“When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books, and I was the hero of the comic book. I saw movies, and I was the hero in the movie. So every dream I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times...I learned very early in life that: ‘Without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain’t got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend - without a song.' So I keep singing a song. Goodnight. Thank you.”-From his acceptance speech for the 1970 Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation Award. Given at a ceremony on January 16, 1971. (Elvis quotes from copyrighted material with lines from the song “Without a Song”.)”
